The Lenexa City Council accepted the 2024 Parks & Recreation Master Plan on April 16, 2024. The plan is the result of more than a year of research and community input. It will serve as a roadmap for parks and recreation in Lenexa for the next five to 10 years.

Project Description

This plan will identify a 10-year vision for Lenexa Parks & Recreation program offerings, general capital improvements, facility management, park amenities, future parks locations and types, future trail locations and types.

Cost & Funding Sources

Total cost: $100,000

Funding sources:

  • Capital Improvement Fund: $100,000

Timeline

Consultant selection: Late fall 2022

Resident engagement: Spring 2023

Final Report: Early 2024

Past engagement

A first open house for the Parks & Recreation Master Plan was held on April 29, 2023, at the Lenexa Rec Center and had great community participation.

Community members gave feedback through an interactive map on parks, trails and facilities throughout a four-month period.
