Project Description

Lenexa’s skate park relocation and reconstruction was identified as part of the Parks Master Plan and has been a high-priority project for many years.

The current skate park is over 20 years old and the surface has deteriorated significantly. The parking lot that serves this skate park, tennis courts and roller hockey rink is set up poorly and has limited capacity. This project will reconfigure the lot to accommodate more parking stalls, better traffic flow, and safer pedestrian movements.

The skate park’s new design will be driven by community input to meet a wide range of recreational level usage. It will provide a safe environment for people of all ages and abilities to meet and share experiences through action sports (skateboarding, BMX, scooters, wheelchairs and inline skating).

The facility will be renamed Rolling Magic Skate Park. This is in a tribute to a privately-run skate park with the same name that was built in Lenexa in the late 1970s.

Whether you're ready to kick-flip, grind, grab or just ride, Lenexa’s reconstructed skate park will be ready by fall 2023.
