Summer break is a welcome reprieve for many kids. It is also a time of great hunger for those who rely on school meals. Lenexans can come to the rescue by being hunger heroes this summer.
From May 1–31, 2023, Lenexa’s We Care Committee will collect easy-to-make meals and snacks to help fill the hunger gap for kids.
The City is offering nine drop-off locations. Please put your nonperishable items in the marked barrels at each location. The donations will benefit the Johnson County Human Services food pantry.
Nonperishable items needed include:
- Boxed cereal
- Canned tuna and chicken
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Ketchup and mustard
- Canned soups
- Canned pastas
- Canned fruit
- Boxed meal helpers
- Granola and breakfast bars
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Tissues
- Hand soap
