Jay Mitchell in the garden

Hope’s Harvest Garden is a produce vendor at the Lenexa Farmers Market. This garden is grown in raised beds at  Shawnee Mission Unitarian Universalist Church here in Lenexa. Hope’s Harvest Garden is led by volunteer Jay Mitchell, a retired physician who has a passion for teaching healthy living for all people.

The original raised beds were created as an Eagle Scout service project. The goal of the garden is to provide fresh produce for the church’s food pantry and community supported agriculture subscription service. All profits go back to the garden and food pantry.

Jay is no stranger to gardening and farmers markets. While a practicing physician in southeast Michigan, Jay started a similar program and attended the local farmers market. We are excited to have Jay and his volunteers join us this season.
