Call for Artists

Artists interested in exhibiting in the gallery have several opportunities. We choose artists based on the individual show’s criteria and use a separate application process for each show.

Lenexa Artists’ Show

We celebrate hometown artists in the Lenexa Artists’ Show, which features 2D and 3D works by Lenexa residents only. This is a juried show, and judges award monetary prizes in various categories for exceptional artwork. Exhibit period is August through September 2024. Applications will be accepted from April 1–July 8, 2024.

HeART of Lenexa Show

HeART of Lenexa Show started in 2015 by Emma Neely, a Lenexa Girl Scout earning her Gold Award, celebrates art and community. Create your 2D or 3D work of art inspired by what you love about Lenexa. This is a juried show, and judges award monetary prizes in various categories for exceptional artwork. Exhibit period is January through February 2025. Applications will be accepted April 1–Dec. 31, 2024

Place of Peace Veterans Art Exhibit

We’re giving veterans a creative outlet and a way to process their experience and community members an opportunity to support and learn from them. This fall, the Lenexa Arts Council and the Arts Council of Johnson County will present Place of Peace at the City Hall Art Gallery. We’re seeking veterans — from all military branches and artistic levels — to submit up to four pieces of art for consideration. Select art will be on display for the exhibit Oct. 29–Nov. 24. Applications will be accepted from May 1–Sept. 1, 2024.

Apply for a solo or shared exhibit

The gallery rotates exhibits on nearly a monthly basis. If you would like to have your 2D or 3D work considered for a solo or shared exhibit in the City Hall Art Gallery, you are invited to apply. We select art based on artistic and cultural significance that encourages public education and appreciation of the arts. We also look for art that demonstrates professional excellence and creativity, taking into consideration general standards of decency and respect for cultural diversity.
