Current job opportunities
Initial steps
Once a job application is submitted, the hiring manager will review applications as they are received. Qualified applicants will be notified of next steps via phone or email. A phone screen or interview may be requested for individuals who meet all of the minimum qualifications for the position.
Screening
After being interviewed and offered a position, each candidate must complete the following:
- Background check: All City of Lenexa job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of our pre-employment screening process, which includes a background check, if over the age of 18. A credit report check is required of certain positions at the City that require cash handling or other financial management as noted in the job posting.
- Any background or credit check requires you to complete a release of information. This is initiated after you have accepted a conditional job offer and is managed by a third-party vendor.
- Drug screen: If you are offered a position with the City you will be required to complete a post-offer drug screen when scheduled. Candidates under age 18 will need to have a minor consent form completed by a parent or legal guardian. Depending on the type of position you are offered, the testing required may vary.
All Parks & Recreation positions other than lifeguards and head guards require a baseline health history
pre-employment physical.
All Parks Maintenance positions require
pre-employment agility/essential functions testing.
