Mark Charlton: Ward 2

Mark CharltonMark Charlton was elected to serve as a Ward 2 council member in November 2023.

Mark is a licensed architect in Kansas and holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kansas State University with a certificate in regional and community planning. He has lived in Lenexa for over 20 years.

Mark brings a broad perspective of the area, having lived his entire life in Johnson County and worked in cities on both sides of the state line. He started his career in architecture in 1992 and has worked with a few local Kansas City architectural firms and developers during his 30-year career. He continues to practice architecture and construction, starting his own Lenexa-based small design-build architectural, consulting and construction firm in 2014. He is also experienced in renewable energy – photovoltaic solar array design and installation.

Mark and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons, and their family has lived in two neighborhoods in Ward 2. Mark designed and built their current home in 2016 and serves on the homes association board for Falcon Valley.

Mark handed out water as a volunteer at the inaugural TAB Freedom Run in Lenexa in 1979 and continued for several early years of the event. He even worked for Lenexa one college summer mowing parks and right of ways. He has served in volunteer positions for Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and the St. Joseph Parish Catholic Youth Organization.
