Paw-triotic Pet Parade

This festive, pet-friendly celebration features strutting mutts in costume, pop-up vendors selling pet-related products and treats for dogs and humans alike. Parade begins at 11 a.m. Dress up your pet and join in the fun. 

Lenexa Community Orchestra Concert

Community Covenant Church

Sit back and enjoy a free classical performance by Lenexa’s volunteer orchestra under the direction of Kansas City Symphony conductor Richard Ryan. 

Lenexa Freedom Run

Start Independence Day off with a bang! Runners, walkers and strollers welcome in this USATF-certified 5K and 10K race. Register in advance to save and secure a patriotic tee to wear the rest of the day.

As you fire up the grill and gather with neighbors and friends, keep these safety tips in mind:

1. Fireworks are illegal in Lenexa. Sparklers, snakes, smoke bombs and paper caps with less than .25 grain of explosive are not considered fireworks and are legal. 


2. Keep grills 10 feet away from siding, deck rails and eaves. 


3. Open gas grills before lighting them to avoid gas buildup that could cause a flash fire when lit.


4. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby. 


5. Let coals cool completely before disposing them in a metal can.
